Brownswood Road Area Community Meeting

On March 30, 2015, Council Member Anna Johnson hosted a community meeting at the Johns Island Regional Library to discuss future land use recommendations for the Brownswood Road Area of Johns Island. Over 90 people attended this meeting and provided feedback for future planning in this area. Representatives from the Charleston County Zoning & Planning Department, Charleston County Transportation Development Department, City of Charleston Planning Department, Charleston Water System, and Berkeley-Charleston-Dorchester Council of Governments attended and answered questions.

Citizens were asked to complete questionnaires to provide insight on what locals want to see occur in this area. If you are a resident of Johns Island, we want to hear what you think!

Next Steps

Planning staff will compile the results of the questionnaire and present the information to Charleston County Council and Planning Commission for consideration and direction. The results will also be posted on this website.

Amendments to the Charleston County Comprehensive Plan and/or Zoning and Land Development Regulations Ordinance (ZLDR) may be proposed. Additional community meetings may also be held.
