With the help of federal funds, Charleston County Government trimmed hazardous limbs on 127 trees on two highly traveled Johns Island roads. Crews trimmed limbs from 89 trees on Bohicket Road and 38 trees on River Road. Bohicket Road was the first state-legislatively-designated scenic highway in South Carolina. Both roads are designated as scenic roads by the County. The designation requires the protection of all trees that are six inches or greater in diameter breast height (DBH) located within the right-of-way, under the provisions of the Charleston County Zoning and Land Development Regulations Ordinance
